Our Technology

Lockwood Energy Group utilizes a proprietary advanced thermochemical conversion platform designed to transform a wide range of carbon-based raw materials into renewable hydrogen, diesel, and jet fuel. Our process can also be tailored to produce other high-demand forms of energy, including liquid alcohols, commodity chemicals, gases, and even electricity.

While our focus is on woody biomass from mill residues, our system is highly versatile. Lockwood Energy Group has successfully tested and proven conversion of other renewable feedstocks, cost-effective fossil inputs, and critical “at-need” materials such as sewage sludge and pulp sludge into reliable sources of clean energy.

With more than 35,000 hours of pilot and demonstration runtime, our technology has been rigorously optimized for efficiency and reliability. Three critical factors set our process apart:

  • Precise control of contact and reaction time within the Fischer-Tropsch reactor

  • Strategic distribution of temperature throughout the reactors

  • Optimization and control of syngas ratios

Our proprietary thermochemical conversion methods combine advanced gasification/reformation with Fischer-Tropsch catalysis. As a direct owner of proprietary Fischer-Tropsch catalysts, Lockwood Energy Group is uniquely positioned to deliver superior performance. Unlike traditional Lurgi or fluidized bed reactors, our multi-reactor gasification design operates at higher temperature ranges, allowing for greater flexibility, improved control, and more effective utilization of feedstocks. The result is a synthetic gas that drives yields 30% to 40% higher than competing technologies.

Our plants are engineered in modular 50-ton-per-day units, giving us maximum flexibility in both scale and deployment. By relying on proven, off-the-shelf equipment, we maintain cost efficiency without sacrificing performance. With virtually no design vents, the only emissions come from pumps, valves, and similar equipment. Independent analysis conducted by Auburn University estimates our greenhouse gas reductions at 80% to 90% compared to conventional fossil fuel processes.

At Lockwood Energy Group, our technology is more than innovation. It is a proven pathway to cleaner fuels, greater efficiency, and a sustainable energy future.
